January 17th, 2009 - Taylor, Crawford put Triple X in Chili Bowl Big Show

January 17th 2009.  A year ago, the Triple X midget prototype hit the track for the first time in the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals with Gary Taylor behind the wheel. This year, three Triple X midgets were fielded among the record 281 entries and two of them made the big A-Main event on Saturday.

A couple of weeks after his big 600cc mini-sprint victory in the Tulsa Shootout in another Triple X car, Taylor, out of Sapulpa, Oklahoma finished eighth in his preliminary feature on Tuesday and secured a spot in the Saturday's second B-Main. Donnie Ray Crawford, out of Tulsa, finished in Thursday's preliminary feature and also had a spot in the second
B-Main with Taylor. Tayor finished third and Crawford claimed the sixth and final transfer spot to make the big show for Triple X Race Co.

In the 50-lap A-Main event, Taylor drove his way to a solid 12th place finish and Crawford came home 17th in Triple X's Chili Bowl main even debut. Taylor and Crawford were among the small handful of drivers who made the main event on both their preliminary nights and the final night.

January 11th, 2009 - Triple X drivers Taylor, Bacon and Crawford get ready for the
Chili Bowl

January 11, 2009.  When the 23rd Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals kicks off in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Tuesday, Triple X Race Co. will have at least three cars in the pit area in pursuit of the famed Golden Driller trophy.

A year ago, Washington state native Gary Taylor piloted the new Triple X midget prototype and finished eighth in the first B-Main event. It was a good start for Triple X as Taylor was well into the top half of the field that was a staggering 273 cars strong (there were a pair of K-Mains). Taylor then picked up a couple of midget victories in that car last season.

Taylor has already won for Triple X in Tulsa this year at the famed Tulsa Expo Raceway. Just after the first of the year Taylor won the winged 600 mini-sprint "A-Class" main event in the Tulsa Shootout. Taylor will be back in Tulsa again for the Chili Bowl this week, racing his familiar No. 5* for Tel-Star Communications - Mike Eubanks Racing in Tuesday's preliminary event, but he will have company on the Triple X front this year.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Brady Bacon will be piloting another Triple X, the No. 99 car, in Wednesday's program. Bacon is already an accomplished non-wing sprint car racer, having won on both the dirt and pavement. In August last year he won three Sprint Bandit "Tour ‘n Topless" tour main events in as many nights driving a Triple X wingless sprint car.

In the past the 18-year-old Bacon has driven sprint cars and midgets owned by NASCAR star Kasey Kahne. Bacon finished seventh in last year's Chili Bowl main event driving one of Kahne's cars. This week, Bacon will drive for Eubanks also and will look to make Triple X present in the Chili Bowl main event on Saturday.

Thursday will see one another Eubanks-owned Triple X car in the field as Tulsa's own Donnie Ray Crawford will pilot the No. 55 as a teammate to both Taylor and Bacon. Despite 200+ plus midgets on hand, Crawford made the Chili Bowl feature race in his rookie appearance in 2007 and had a very strong fifth place finish.

Stay tuned to see updates on how the Triple X teams do in their pursuit of the coveted Golden Driller trophy.

January 4th, 2009 - Gary Taylor Wins Tulsa Shootout
A-Class Main in XXX 600

January 4, 2009.  The 24th annual Tulsa Shootout saw Gary Taylor decimate the field in the A-Class Main event in his XXX 600, giving Triple X Race Co their first Golden Driller Trophy. Team XXX Drivers Brady Bacon, Donnie Ray Crawford and Colton Heath also showed the capabilities of the XXX 600 chassis by consistently running strong all weekend long. If not for some bad luck for Brady after leading the first 19 laps, the pole-sitter would have grabbed the Outlaw title as well.

In the A-Class main event, Taylor took off on the start and in the words of ASCS press guru Lonnie Wheatley “decimated the field with a convincing wire-to-wire victory”. The weekend on a whole was a huge success, as Taylor secured his pole position by winning his Thursday heat race in overly convincing fashion. Taylor was also entered in the Outlaw division but opted not to run in his qualifying heat after securing the pole for the A-Class feature.

Triple X Race Co wishes to congratulate Gary Taylor on winning the Golden Driller!

We also wish to thank Team Tel-Star and the Crawford family for their on-site assistance all weekend. Special thanks to XXX employees Colton Heath, Michael “Juice Box” Messer and Kelsey Carpenter for helping build Gary's Tulsa Shootout winning ride.
